What is the difference between the Legon Main Campus and the Legon City Campus?

You may have heard of the Legon City Campus, and are not a University of Ghana student, you may believe it functions similarly to the main campus. Although both campuses are owned by the University of Ghana, they differ in many ways.

  1.     The Legon city campus has a fee-paying admissions system, whilst the main campus is more of a conventional administrative system.
  2.     The fees charged at the Legon City Campus are higher than those charged at the main campus. This is due to the fact that people who attend classes on the main campus are eligible for specific grants and scholarships.
  3.     The Legon City Campus caters primarily to working people and older students.
  4.     In contrast to the main campus, the Legon City Campus lacks hostels. Students attending the Legon City campus, on the other hand, can stay in the main campus’ hostels. Click here to find some hostels around the Legon main campus.
  5.     Currently, the Legon City Campus offers only two-degree programmes; Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Sciences. The main campus, on the other hand, offers a wide range of programmes, including the two offered at the Legon City Campus.
  6.     In terms of postsecondary education, the University of Ghana’s cut-off point could be one of the most difficult in the country. The university’s last grade, or minimum cut-off point, is 24, which applies primarily to the Legon City Campus programmes. However, the same cannot be stated for the main campus as the cut-off point is higher.
  7.     When it comes to location, the Legon City Campus is in Adabraka, whereas the Main Campus is in Legon.
