The Obuasi campus of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) was officially launched in September of 2019. The KNUST Obuasi campus is a satellite campus of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and it was built as a form of expansion of the University beyond the city of Kumasi. The opening of the KNUST Obuasi campus has made tertiary education more accessible to residents in and around Obuasi.
The KNUST Obuasi campus came as no surprise as the University has been known for originating notable universities such as the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) and University of Energy and Natural Resource (UENR). KNUST Obuasi Campus Matriculation
A total of Three Hundred and Forty-Three (343) students were acknowledged into the KNUST Obuasi campus as the first-ever matriculants of the school. The settlers were comprised of 238 males and 105 females. This was disclosed by the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Kwasi Obiri Danso at the maiden matriculation of the KNUST Obuasi campus.
