Central University introduces paperless academic service request

Central University, the leading private university in Ghana has introduced an innovative e-students request technology known as “Request a Service” which seeks to help students and alumni experience fast processing and delivery of official transcripts and other academic documents.

According to the University, the deployment of the technology drive will enable students/ alumni to request for services, make submission from anywhere in the world and also cut out all the printed forms and manual validations of requests.

Since its opening in 1998, the university which was granted a presidential charter in January 2016 has graduated over 19,000 students in various disciplines for undergraduate and post graduate degree programs.

Introduced byInpath Technologies Ghana Limited, this service makes CU the first university in Ghana to go paperless with students requests and also provide the opportunity to track the processes till the request is delivered at their door steps.

Launching the service, In-Charge, Academic and Students Services, Mrs. Stella Etse, said the struggle and inconvenience of travelling over a long distance to request for transcripts and other services by students and alumni should be over.

“From the comfort of their home in every corner of the globe, students and alumni can send in their request and within 2 days it is ready for pick up or delivery by DHL she noted adding that the technology helps to reduce the processing period for transcript requests from 5 days to 2 days. “This means better service experience, increased productivity, and drive efficiency”, she posited.

Explaining the processes involved, the Chief Operating Officer of Inpath Technologies Ghana Limited, Mr. Samuel Korley said using the students portal on the university’s website (www.central.edu.gh), the student/ alumni will proceed to request for an itemised service from a customised dashboard to complete a request.

“On submission of the request, one has to pay for the cost of the transcript or document being requested for before processing will begin” he indicated and added that, multiple payment options ranging from various mobile money platforms, Master and Visa Debit cards and some selected banks were available to complete the transaction.

Mr. Korley revealed that once a request is confirmed, the student/ alumni can track every stage of theprocessing until final delivery is made by DHL (the partnering courier service) to the recipient at every corner of the globe.

This innovative platform seeks to increase efficiency by 50% and also cut out the stress associated with physical follow ups in the acquisition of transcripts.
