Fun Ways to Celebrate Easter on Campus

Easter is that wonderful time of year where we remember what Christ has done for the whole of humanity by being that ultimate sacrifice for sin and establishing a relationship between us and God as it says in 1 Peter 2:21-25

This is the kind of life you’ve been invited into, the kind of life Christ lived. He suffered everything that came his way so you would know that it could be done, and also know how to do it, step-by-step.

He never did one thing wrong,
Not once said anything amiss.

They called him every name in the book and he said nothing back. He suffered in silence, content to let God set things right. He used his servant body to carry our sins to the Cross so we could be rid of sin, free to live the right way. His wounds became your healing. You were lost sheep with no idea who you were or where you were going. Now you’re named and kept for good by the Shepherd of your souls.

1 Peter 2:21-25 (message version)

During this joyful time, most students travel home to spend time with their families. However, for some of us, going home isn’t a feasible option because the journey is too long to make a return trip. So, going home for one day during the weekend isn’t something most students are able to do.

However, there are some great ways to celebrate Easter while remaining on-campus. These are some great ideas for a student looking to have a good weekend full of Easter festivities even if you are stuck in your hostel.

1. Give Back

The real meaning behind Easter isn’t the outing. It’s the spirit of self-sacrifice. Use this time to volunteer in your community. Take on a service project or organise clean up. You’ll love how great you’ll feel afterwards. It is always more blessed to give than to receive.

2. Send Some Easter Love

Easter is usually a “forgotten” holiday on campus — meaning many of your friends won’t be going home to celebrate with family. But don’t let the distance stop you from sending love. Send an Easter Care Package to friends and family. The old school bunny and peeps will have them feeling like they’re back at home.

3. Host a floor cooking contest

This is a great way for residents to bond with each other while celebrating Easter. The winners can win a giant chocolate bunny or even a set of cooking utensils, depending on what the host wants to do. You can also organise a talk show and dancing contest so residents can choose from if they’re not too confident in their cooking abilities.

4. Have an Easter brunch

During this time, lots of eateries will be offering mouthwatering brunches. This is a great time to grab some with friends or if you have a girlfriend or boyfriend. If you are feeling very generous, you could take out your whole floor. This is a great chance to chat with friends and celebrate Easter.

You can also go out to the cinema with your friends or your partner to watch a movie this Easter season there are a lot of premieres ongoing so you could take a chance to enjoy yourselves.

If you like these, feel free to use them next year when Easter rolls around, or set up one tonight before it’s officially April 1st!

If you need to get secure your hostel room then please use GetRooms. It’s free. Happy Easter!
