Tanoso Community Health Nursing Training College to receive a hostel

The Tanaso Community Health Nursing Training College (CHNTC) in the Brong Ahafo region in Ghana is to receive a 100-bed capacity hostel according to Mrs. Freda Prempeh, Member of Parliament (MP) for Tano North Constituency in Brong-Ahafo.

The hostel is set to cost about GHC 2 billion and is expected to be completed by 2020. Students will finally have better infrastructure. Over the years, The CHNTC has experienced a lot of infrastructural difficulties that need to be addressed by the government. The college has an average of 600 students pursuing various diploma and certificate courses in health. The school has lacked an administration block, assembly hall, lecture halls, and hostel facilities on campus to facilitate effective academic work. The new hostel will certainly ease the accommodation challenge that the college is facing.

Madam Wiafe, who is the principal of the college, expressed discomfort about the unavailability of student hostels on campus. Students have to rent hostel rooms off campus which makes it difficult for the school authorities to monitor students outside normal lecture hours.

Another major challenge that the college faces is an issue of security. The college does not have a fence wall. Madam Wiafe suggested that if the wall is constructed, it will help prevent students from leaving campus without authorization and improve security on campus.

The college is also in urgent need of quarters and bungalows for staff to make teaching and learning even more effective. Are you a student at Tanoso Community Health Training College? Leave a comment below to help others.
