The University of Ghana’s admissions management has released the (UG) Legon Admission Form for the 2021/2022 Academic year online. Applicants who wish to take admission into the University of Ghana can do so through the University of Ghana admission portal, for the 2021/2022 academic year.
Admissions for 2021/2022 will soon be closed but for early applicants, the admission list is now out: so applicants interested in applying for the University of Ghana have to apply now or will have to wait for the 2022/2023 academic year.
The UG Portal applications provide you with data in an easily understandable format, modify or manipulate the data, and communicate with the school. This article will walk you through the basics of how to navigate the UG admission portal.

What is the deadline for Legon forms?
The Admission Forms applicants, interested in applying for admission at the University of Ghana came out on 24 March 2021 and the deadline has fortunately been extended to 30th October 2021.

Applying to the University of Ghana
The University of Ghana has varying application demands for applicants with a WASSSCE/SSSCE background, Ghanaians with Foreign Background and Diploma/HND to degree applicants students applying.

The University of Ghana E-VOUCHER
An e-voucher is an electronic voucher, it is created by organizations to delivered to a customer via SMS or email, often with a personalised and branded message.
E-voucher for UG should have your serial number and your admissions login code
Steps to purchase your student E-VOUCHER via USSD code
- Dial *887*18#, on all networks
- Reply for the message UG or University of Ghana
- Authorize payment
- You should receive your E-voucher via SMS after successful payment.
Steps to retrieve UG student E-VOUCHER via USSD code
If for some reason you don’t receive your E-voucher
- Dial *887*18#, on all networks
- Select “Yes”
- Select “Retrieve E-Voucher”
- The details of your E-Voucher will be displayed ( University of Ghana, Serial Number, and PIN)
After you submit your application online, the e-voucher you purchased should be safely stored away for future use when accessing your admission status.

For international students and students applying from abroad, there is no need to purchase the e-voucher, instead, you should apply using this link: Online Application for International & Ghanaians Abroad Undergraduate applicants; and pay the processing fee of US$110.00, via direct transfer into the University of Ghana ECOBANK Account.

University of Ghana postgraduate admission portal
Applicants who wish to apply to the University of Ghana for a postgraduate programme should know that the online application has already ended for the coming UG academic year; so they will have to wait for the 2021/2022 academic year.

Fee payment: All postgraduate applicants are required by the University to pay an application processing fee of US$110.00.
The fee is non-refundable and can be paid directly or wire transferred into the UNIVERSITY OF GHANA ECOBANK ACCOUNT.
NOTE: All applicants who graduated from the University from 1996 to date should show their ‘STUDENT IDENTITY NUMBERS’ on their forms before submission.
NOTE ALSO: All postgraduate applicants who did not graduate from the University of Ghana must submit the following documents online (Scan and Attached in PDF or Word format):
- For those applying for Masters’ Degree programmes, a Bachelors’ Degree Certificate and Transcript will be needed
- Those applying for PhD programmes should provide Bachelors’ and Masters’ Degree Certificate and Transcript
- Applicants applying under either a master’ Degree or a PhD programme, should in addition provide three referees’ reports and provide the details of the referees online.
- PhD applicants should attach their Research Proposals to the application (Not more than Four pages)

- Enter your PIN and serial number; know that the University of Ghana’s serial number always starts with UG and ends with a 7 digit number
- After logging in the first page should have the welcoming message from the school along with some very important disclaimer and message from the university which you should read through before proceeding
- On the left-hand side of the page, you have the data entry steps.
Data entry steps for the University of Ghana application forms
- Biodata: After filling the sections with your personal data review the entered details and click on save and continue.
- Entry information: There are sections available for the year group you are applying for and the entry type is basically the kind of examination you have written or plan to write. After reviewing click save and continue
- Educational background: This will just ask you the institution you are applying from or may have attended like your secondary school, this section also demands the index number you used to write the qualifying exams at the SSCE/WASSCE level; the section will also demand the number of examination sitting you may have participated in.
- Programme information: the applicant needs to calculate their examination aggregate; check the cut off points and carefully choose their preferred and suitable programmes.
- Upload your picture: the requirement of the UG is a white background with dimensions of 600*800 max and 100*100 min. There is the option of using the photo tool editor to get the picture to the right size
- The summary: gives you the details of all you have entered along with the option of printing out

Pop-up message for a successful application
- Logout: this is the final step so after you print out proof the application, you head to the logout section to leave the University of Ghana admission portal
If the data entered under each section was done right and if it was successfully saved you will see a pop-up message on your screen on which you should click continue.
NOTE: applicants are allowed to review and edit their data entries until the deadline
